Structure and Organization:
Union County Youth Soccer (local) is a member of the East Central Indiana Youth Soccer League (regional), and is sanctioned by Indiana Soccer.
Indiana Soccer regulates play in Indiana by setting rules, regulations and standard of play for each age group. They collect state registration fees of $12 per travel team player and $8 per recreation league player. (UCYS pays this out of the local registration fees.)
East Central Indiana Youth Soccer League is based in Centerville and handles scheduling of games and referees for our region. ECIYSL collects a registration fee of $40 for each travel team which is paid by UCYS out of local registration fees.
All three organizations use the registration software at www.gotsoccer.com to store and exchange player information. If you have supplied eMail information during sign-up you can use set up a family account and receive email notifications through gotsoccer.
The player's age on August 1 determines his or her age bracket for each year. A player may move up to an older bracket if necessary to balance teams or if it makes sense to provide more of a challenge for a skilled younger player.
A player may play on more than one team, if age rules allow. Each team is only allowed to have up to three players from another team in a league game.
| Recreational "A"|| Age 4-5|
| Recreational "B"|| Age 6-7|
| U10 Travel Team|| Age 8-10|
| U12 Travel Team|| Age 10-12|
| U14 Travel Team (Fall)|| Age 12-14|
| U15 Travel Team (Spring)|| Age 12-15|
The recreational teams play all games locally within our group, so no travel is involved. This is a low-pressure introduction to soccer for young children.
The travel teams play other teams in our region, so about half of the games are local and the other half are usually within a 1-hour drive.
- UCYS supplies Jerseys for travel teams and T-Shirts for recreation teams.
- Parents supply shorts, socks, cleats and shinguards. (cleats may not have any metal on them)
- No jewelry (earrings, bands, watches, piercings or metal hairbands)
- Knit gloves & caps or ear wraps are great for cool days.
- Players may wear sweatshirts or pants under the uniform on cold days.
- No hoodies or sweat pants that are too long.
